New Activities

Alex has had a lot of fun in the past few weeks trying out new summer activities! (As well as a few indoors).

We went with our friends Sheri and Koen and swam at the Tourtelotte Pool, an outdoor pool in Mankato. Alex found that he loves the water and even didn't mind going under on his own. I would try to hold his hand and walk with him through the water and he would let go and walk on his own, as soon as I looked away for a second, there he was under water, attempting to swim/not drown on his own. He also found that jumping off the side of the pool into my arms was a lot of fun! He had a hard time leaving when it was time to go home.

We've also been enjoying the weather and picnicking whenever possible. Yesterday, for my birthday we got together with a few friends and grilled at the park. It was next to impossible to keep Alex with us rather than run off to the "wing" He's quite hilarious when he's swinging, he has the most somber face and says, "wee" over and over, like he's being forced to, but never wants to get out.

Alex has also discovered the joy of movies, with mom's assistance. He has a few DVD's with kids music that we've been allowing him to watch. He calls them, "Noomies" recently he's been going to the TV and saying, "noomie, peese? Noomie?" He knows where the power button on the TV is so he turns that on and looks at us, like, ok, now do your part!

With warm weather, comes yard work, Alex and I have been working hard to establish some good perennials in the gardens to bloom for years to come, Alex loves looking at the flowers and helping me water them. Yesterday he helped me put down bark chips in the garden. We're hoping that the weather stays nice and warm to encourage our bulbs to pop up and get to blooming, before its too late in the year!

Last but not least, Alex has begun telling us when he's got messy pants, with this, and my long stretch of days off this week, I thought we'd try encouraging him to use the potty. He sat on it yesterday many times with no result, this morning as soon as he woke up I sat him on the potty and he went!!! I'm hoping that this is the beginning of the need for less diapers.

See the pictures below for some of Alex's latest!
