18 Month Update

I was thinking that I would document what Alex is able to do at 18 Months, being I do a horrible job of keeping a baby book.

  1. He currently counts from 1-13, needing a reminder at 11.
  2. Recognizes a majority of the alphabet when seeing it, will pick up letter magnets from the refrigerator and name what letter it is.
  3. Currently asks the question, "What's this?" over and over, as though he's testing us to see if we know what it is rather than inform him of what it is, because all the things he points at are things that he's named for us before.
  4. Says please, when asked, "What do you say?"
  5. Knows most farm animals and their sounds
  6. Is learning his colors and shapes.
  7. Runs to destinations, without falling.
  8. Has started saying 2-4 word sentences.
  9. Is able to sing along to some songs, such as Twinkle Twinkle, Sodeo, Noah, etc. Also requests these songs by repeating the words over and over, until we acknowledge it.
  10. Sits by himself by his box of books and pulls out books to look at for 10 minutes and beyond.
  11. Recognizes modes of transportation and makes driving sounds, as well as honk, honk and beep, beep.
  12. Throws wonderful temper tantrums, such as he's doing right now.
  13. Loves the puppies and sneaks them MANY treats at one time.
  14. And many, many more.
Needless to say, this has been a very blessed past 18 months and we look forward to the years to come. Parenting has been a very rewarding experience for us, and we're thankful on a daily basis for the chance to experience it!

WOW! Ashlyn isn't even close to doing that much! She is 16 months old! Needless to say I don't think my 3 year old counts to 13 yet! Good job Alex!
