Summer Adventures

We cannot believe that it's nearing the end of July already, with no blog posts since May! Where has time gone?

The month of July has been extremely busy for us with adventures planned for three out of the four weekends.

The first weekend we headed to Rochester for a wedding for one of the girls who has been caring for the kids. We made a last minute decision to stay in a hotel that night (thanks to Nate for watching the dogs for us!) and then head to the Laurie Berkner concert the following day in Minneapolis. Alex waited in line for an hour and a half, just to meet Laurie and to get her autograph. He was able to get a picture with her and tell her how big of a fan he was. She was so kind and patient with every family that visited with her, waiting for stubborn cameras, posing and chatter among kids. When we got up there she was even kind enough to ask if we had other kids with us (since we asked her to sign it for all three kids), she seemed willing to wait for the other kids to come up if we wanted. She was amazing! We left the concert with an even bigger fan (or 2). If you haven't checked out The Laurie Berkner Band, you should! They have their DVD's on Netflix for all to watch.

The following weekend we had a family gathering in town with all my siblings and their significant others and children. Everyone from out of town got a hotel room, while we were able to come home at night and sleep in our own bed. We spent the majority of our time together watching kids' games and swimming in the hotel pool. Grandma and Papa were so kind to watch the kids long enough for us adults to head down to the bar for a B1G1 drink. I think we all had a great time and know we need to do this more often.

This past weekend we drove to Milwaukee for a family wedding and additional family wedding reception. We booked a hotel through Priceline and managed to get an amazing deal on an amazing hotel!! The only drawback was that the hotel was so far away from everything going on that we spent a large amount of time each day driving. The kids were able to swim each night and slept soundly afterwards. They were able to gather with second cousins and play with them during the wedding celebrations. Its amazing what changes a few years apart show in young kids! I wasn't able to snap any pictures of the kids all together, but it was super cute to see them together and then come home and compare that to the pictures we have from FL.

I tried to make Eli a fort the afternoon before the wedding to encourage a short nap time...it didn't work!

Bedtime snacks

A tuckered out baby, after not taking much of a nap and dancing away at the reception.

Elijah fell asleep within 5 minutes of being on the road in Milwaukee, he was TIRED!

Alex entertained himself by wearing down the battery on my phone!

Abbi watched the scenery out the window.
