Our Big Baby

ONE!

Its hard to believe Elijah is 13 months (going on 14) old already!! He has grown up so much in the last month or so, I look at him and wonder where my baby went!! He loves his big brother to death and wants so badly to be just like him. I'm afraid that's giving him even more motivation to grow up quicker. He says a few words (you have to be his mom to hear them, though), he says dog, no (and shakes his head back and forth, its quite cute!) mama, dada, cow, moo, duck and i'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. We continue to attempt to utilize some baby sign, but the only word that we have seen him do is milk. He now is to the point that if we say milk he goes into the kitchen and waits impatiently, fussing and doing the sign. As you can see from the picture, he has learned "one" on his finger, he doesn't say one, but if you say one to him he will put his finger up. He is quite the babbler. From the time he wakes up until the time he lays down he will chat to himself or to us. I can tell he's really got something on his mind, but am unable to decode the majority of it. As I wrote in one of the past posts, he LOVES books. He will pick up a board book and sit with it and page through it, babbling to himself, as if he's reading it. He doesn't quite have the patience to sit through many books, but we're slowly easing him into it, and we've succeeded in finding a few that have kept his interest. The top of his list right now is "The Big Red Barn" He loves to make the moo sound for the cows in the book. We miss our little baby, but are enjoying his increasingly interactive personality. If he's well rested and fed he is continuously happy and demonstrates quite a sense of humor.
